New Apartment – Interior Haul

Hi Guys,

Firstly apologies for the silence and lack of posts during September.  It was a pretty eventful and stressful month as we moved apartment.  We’re now in our gorgeous new build apartment (we’re the first ones in, woohoo!!), fully unpacked and have yet another awesome view of London including the O2, Greenwich, City Airport and the Thames.  And with moving means waiting for a week or so on getting utilities set up again such as internet and TV.  Our building is incredible and comes with a state of the art gym, indoor and outdoor pool, spa and valet parking.  Now this sure is city living at its finest (:

I figured that I would do a little homeware haul as my first post back to provide some inspiration if you are on the move or just fancy adding a little extra to your home.  I love reading these posts as I always discover something new.

Ceramic Dishes by AbFab – £8/£10

I came across these ceramic plates in a little boutique here in London and I knew I just had to have them.  There are various styles available and I believe that you can purchase them on Ebay.  I opted for a “Your Keys” plate as I am forever losing my keys! Now I have a little routine in place to ensure I never leave the apartment without them.  The second plate, “You’ve got mail” is a perfect plate for letters and loose change.  The gold on the plates adds a little extra.  I think that these are simply adorable.

Initial Mugs by Sass and Belle – £11 each

These mugs have a bohemian style print and are hand painted, therefore no mug is truly identical.  I think that they are gorgeous and I love the idea of having his and her mugs.  Too cute I know! These mugs are a generous size and are perfect for a large cup of tea, coffee etc.  They are available to purchase online or in various boutiques within London.

Selection of Candles – Voluspa at Anthropology (£8) and Diptyque (£25)

I love having candles around the home as it makes everything feel rather cosy, not to mention smelling fabulous.  If you know me, then you’ll know that my favourite treat is of course a macaron.  So when I discovered this macaron scented candle in Anthropology, it was an essential purchase.  It smells like candy and is delicious.  On the complete opposite, I picked up another one of the Diptyque jasmine candles for a more sophisticated fragrance.  The packaging is gorgeous and is a keep sake once the candle is finished.

Zoella Lazy Days Gift Set – £16

When I heard that Zoella was launching her lifestyle range, I was very excited as I knew that it would involve candles and diffusers.  I opted for the Lazy Days set which includes the Lazy Day candle and some very cozy grey woollen socks.  The packaging on the candle is simple and minimalist, so fits well with my white and grey theme in the living room.  The candle has notes of linen and cotton, and has a scent of calming.  You can purchase the set in Superdrug and Boots, online and instore now.

Delonghi Kettle – £45

I was on the lookout for a new kettle that was white and stood out from the rest.  I instantly fell in love with this kettle as the textured design matches the lid on my Sony Viao laptop.  The contemporary and inventive design is sleek and sophisticated, and adds a nice touch to the kitchen.

Tea Bag Storage Pot – Asda Homeware- £6

As you will know, us Brits love a good cup of tea.  I finally got round to buying a storage pot for the teabags, instead of them sitting in their box with the tea dust going everywhere.  This ceramic pot is incredibly cute and the lid keeps the contents fresh.

Wine Glasses – Anthropology – £14 each

These glasses are available in either green or white.  I opted for the green as the pattern is more visible.  The pattern reminds me of bubble wrap.  I thought these glasses were rather chic as I hadn’t come across anything similar.  The glasses are large and are comfortable to hold and drink from, which of course is the essential part.

Selection of Tea Towels – Primark – £4

The Primark homeware section is the place were gems are found.  They are always bringing out new and exciting products, mainly within their kitchen and bedding range.  I picked up this tea towel pack where you get 3 designs for £4.  One word, bargain! I would say two of them are more suited for drying your hands and the orange would be good at drying kitchenware as it is a soft cotton material which will absorb water more efficiently.

I hope you all enjoyed reading this post and has provided you with some inspiration if you were looking for gifts or something for your home.  I would love to know your thoughts on these items and if there are any items that you have recently purchased or are on your wish list that you would recommend.

Lots of love

August 2016 Favourites

Hi Lovelies,

So as another month comes to an end, it’s a great time to reflect back on all the items that I was loving during the month of August.  This month there were so many items that caught my eye, in particular from Charlotte Tilbury (check out my haul post here).  Therefore it was rather tough to narrow it down however here are my top 5 items.

Lush Love Lettuce Fresh Face Mask – £6.95

I absolutely love Lush fresh face masks! The cooling sensation when applied to the skin is so relaxing and reminds me of being pampered in a spa.  I finally decided to veer away from my go to mask, Cosmetic Warrior, and opted for the Love Lettuce mask.  This mask is dark green due to the main ingredient agar seaweed gel.  It also contains honey, almond oil and to exfoliate almond shells.  The mask is fragranced with lavender so all in all has a calming effect on the skin and mind, and helps to balance the skin’s sebum production.  This mask is ideal for oily skin and those who have the odd breakout.  Leave the mask on for 10-15 mins, then wash off with warm water.  The almond shells will leave your skin feeling incredibly clean and glowing.

Did you know that if you take back 5 empty (and clean!!) fresh face mask pots that you will receive your 6th mask for free? Great deal (: This mask was therefore free, bonus!

Charlotte Tilbury Air Brush Flawless Finish Powder – £33

I’m not sure why but recently my skin has felt rather oily, to the extent that some days I could basically wipe off my make up with my finger.  When I discovered this powder I had high expectations and I certainly was not disappointed.  It is a super luxe micro fine pressed powder that has soft focus nano particles that blur away lines, pores and imperfections.  The formula is breathable and will create a cashmere veil on top of your skin for a bright, illuminated, airbrushed finish. The packaging of course rose gold and completely gorgeous!

St Tropez Gradual Tan Tinted Lotion – £15

I picked this item up in a spur of the moment impulse buy.  I was looking for a gradual tanner, similar to the moisturisers with a hint of tan.  This is slightly different however it’s not like a typical tanning mouse or lotion.  This is a lightweight lotion which will instantly deliver a hint of bronze with a streak free finish.  Slowly the colour intensifies throughout the day leaving the skin with a healthy looking glow.  It dries in quickly so is perfect for those of us who prefer on the go tanning, rather than having to apply and wash off after a few hours.  This item is suitable for all skin tones, including us pasty skin girls!  It’s a non sticky formula and doesn’t have a biscuitey smell.  Instead it has a mood boosting fragrance and the formula will blur the appearance of imperfections.  Big tip, be sure to apply this with gloves.  I applied without and although I washed my hands after, inbetween my fingers must not have rubbed off so I have some odd brown patches. Epic fail!  I applied to my legs and feet and there was no streaking or orangey parts around my ankles and knees.  Love this product!

MAC Oval 6 Brush – £34.50

Hands down, this is possibly THE best makeup brush ever!  This brush is ideal for blending foundation however can also be used to contour using powder.  I use mine to apply liquid foundation.  Application is effortless and leaves you with a flawless airbrushed finish.  The handle provides you with enough grip to control the brush on all aspects of the face, in particular applying foundation around and on your nose.  The bristles are synthetic and are so soft they feel like felt.  I found that it’s best to wash this brush every 1-2 weeks to enable you to achieve a flawless finish.  Too much build up of product will not allow the brush to work it’s magic.  The brush is rather pricey however it’s an investment that will last for ages and not disappoint.

Fleur De Force The Luxe Life – £18.99

Fleur is one of my favourite YouTubers and bloggers so when she announced that she was releasing her second book, The Luxe Life, I was incredibly excited.  Unfortunately I wasn’t able to attend her book tour however I did manage to pre order one of her signed copies. Yep, signed by Fleur herself!! This makes me insanely happy (:

First of all, this book is effortless chic like Fleur herself.  The rose gold detailing makes this book stand out from the rest.  The book will provide you with a combination of lifestyle tips, DIY ideas, recipes taking you from brunch to dinner and of course packed with fashion and beauty advice.  This is classed as a bible for girls who want to make The Luxe Life a reality regardless of budget and time constraints.  It’s a great read and very inspiring.

I love reading and watching vlogs on monthly favourites as there is ALWAYS something that catches your eye.  Therefore if there were any items that you were loving this month and would recommend, please leave a comment in the box below.  Likewise if you have tried out any of my features items, I would love to hear your opinions.  I hope you enjoyed reading this post!

Have a great week!

Until next time….

Charlotte Tilbury MakeUp Haul & Make Over

Calling all beauty lovers!!  Charlotte Tilbury’s flagship store based in Covent Garden, London is quite frankly a magical make up haven. The store has a rock ‘n’ roll vibe fused with the glamour of Art Deco and the indulgence of a Hollywood boudoir.  The setting is gorgeous and of course filled with rose gold finishing touches.  The boutique has a unique technology first approach offering the customer two revolutionary ways to shop – Fast and Fabulous! The ground floor is suited for instant shopping on the go with videos playing demonstrating how to achieve Charlotte Tilbury’s top 10 looks, and the products easily laid out for you to select your item.  The lower ground floor is a magical beauty haven with 7 exclusive vanity tables with lit up mirrors, inspired by boudoirs of the ultra glamorous Elizabeth Taylor and Marilyn Monroe.  You have the ability to book an hour long session with a make up specialist, many of which have worked on red carpet events and backstage at Fashion Week.  They know all the tips and tricks of the trade so you will not be disappointed with the insight that they provide.

I opted for the “Red Carpet Skincare and Makeup Secrets” which is an hour long appointment giving you access to unleash your Silver Screen Siren allure.  The appointment cost £55 however you can then redeem the amount against products instore, so essentially it’s “free”.  Your makeup artist will give you a make over transforming you into one of the 10 signature looks.  I opted for the “Dolce Vita” look which is inspired by Penelope Cruz.  This is a sultry look which can be dulled down for during the day and then adding a hint of sparkle for a night time look.  I opted for this look as I already own products from the range and I wanted advice on how to perfect contouring the face, adding a smokey eye, applying a feline flick and how to prep the skin before applying foundation for the ultimate dewy glow.  The experience was amazing! You feel like a celebrity and what’s not to like about sipping a glass of prosecco at 10am whilst being pampered.  Here’s the finished look:

The products used to create the look were:

Take It All Off – £24

Magic Cream – £70

Wonder Glow – £38.50

Lip Magic – £25

Light Wonder Foundation – £32

Filmstar Bronze and Glow – £49

Rock n Kohl Eyeliner – £19

Dolce Vita Eyeshadow Palette – £38

Cheek to Chic Blusher – £30

Lip Cheat Lip Liner – £16

Lipstick – £23

The items do seem pricey however they last for 6months +, so essentially an investment.  A purchased a few of the items to continue adding to my collection.  The Magic Cream is an out of this world moisturiser that will plump and hydrate skin giving a glowing dewy look.  It has a secret mix of ingredients that transforms skin in an instant and is the best way to cheat your way to looking like you’ve had 8 hours beauty sleep. I absolutely love this product and I’ve noticed that my make up looks in tip top condition throughout the day with very few touch ups. I also splurged and purchased the full set of make up brushes.  Yes these were VERY costly however they are an investment and since using them, my make up has never looked so good.  This is a definite example of paying for quality, plus they look gorgeous!  If you work hard why not treat yourself with the odd splurge, right (:   Here’s the items I purchased. Check out the gorgeous packaging!

I had such a great experience at Charlotte Tilbury that I will definitely be booking another appointment in the near future to try out another signature look.  It’s so much fun, insightful to the world of beauty and definitely the best confidence boost a girl can have!

I hope you enjoyed reading this post.  If you have tried any of the CT products or had a make over instore, I’d love to hear your views.

Have a great bank holiday weekend

July 2016 Favourites

Hi Guys,

Hope you all had a fabulous July! I sure did as not only was it my birthday, I also went on vacation for a much needed week to chill out and get some essential vitamin D (:  July is my second favourite month of the year, after December of course.  There always seems to be new product releases, everyone is in a good mood and there’s always something going on.  This month my favourites are a mixture of both beauty, lifestyle and fashion.  So let’s get started.

First of all, I have been loving Origins Gin Zing products.  This month Origins released the GinZing Peel Off Mask – £24.  It is an energising peel off mask that will brighten skin whilst tightening pores, and lifting away stubborn dead skin cells, dirt and debris to smooth and refine.  When applied, the product is… wait for it… rose gold!! It’s shimmery like you have dipped your face in liquid gold, it’s so cool! I would recommend only applying to the areas that are problematic, for example T zone, and not all over your face.  It is VERY strong once it dries and can be slightly tricky to peel off.  I prefer a mask like this as I feel like it will thoroughly remove any dirt which has built up on my skin.  For the parts I couldn’t peel off, I just used luke warm water to wash off.

Origins also released this month the GinZing Energy Boosting Treatment Lotion Mist – £18.  This product is ah-maz-ing!!  It smells like satsumas and is incredibly refreshing on the skin.  It hydrates and energizes tired, dull skin. It’s the perfect pick me up in the morning.  It is packed with energizing coffee beans, panax ginseng and pomegranate.  It’s oil free and can be used on all skin types.  I keep mine in the fridge for an extra oomph on application.

I also became obsessed with the Origins VitaZing Energy Boosting Moisturiser with Mangosteen – £29.  This is the perfect make up base as it adds a healthy hint of radiance that mimics the glow you get from a week’s vacation in the sun.  It sinks in nicely to the skin and gives you a flawless complexion.  In addition to this, I was also loving the Origins GinZing Refreshing Eye Cream – £20.  This product provides and immediate appearance of vibrancy, radiance and eveness with a blend of optic brighteners to diffuse darkness and illuminate under eye skin.  It combats dark circles by strengthening capillaries and providing both anti inflammatory and anti oxidant benefits.  I never thought a product could work wonders until I discovered this.  It really does work! When I went on vacation, I had to be up at 3am for my 6am flight.  With having only had 4 hours sleep, I applied this and I looked wide awake! I can’t emphasise enough how amazing this product is.

Another new release came from Bare Minerals.  They released the Invisible Light Translucent Powder Duo – £28.  The matte powder absorbs oil and is the perfect setting powder whilst the glow powder will add sheer luminosity for highlighting and strobing.  The matte powder is similar to the MAC Prep and Prime translucent powder.  It can be used on all skin tones and is not visible once applied to the skin, so don’t worry that the colour is white.

My holiday read this year was The Girl On The Train by Paula Hawkins – £7.99.  If you liked Gone Girl, then you will love this! It’s a thriller set in London, and as soon as you start reading I guarantee that you will be hooked! It’s about a girl called Rachel who catches the same commuter train each morning.  The train stops at the same signal each day which overlooks a row of back gardens.  Rachel daydreams about how perfect their lifestyles are and feels like she knows the strangers that she watches daily.  That is until one day she witnesses something shocking and in that moment everything changes.  She then has a chance to become part of their lives and to solve the mystery so that they’ll see she’s not just the girl on the train.  Sounds exciting right?! It really is!!

To continue with my quest to improve my overall health, I purchased the Leon Happy Salads book – £15. First of all how cute is the cover??  It is the perfect way to inspire your diet and give you fresh ideas on what to add to your salads.  For example fregola and chorizo to spinach, chickpea and almond.  When we think of salad, we usually assume that there will be some sort of lettuce or leaves included however that’s not always the case as this can be replaced with cous cous or other grains.  That’s why this book is brilliant and gives you plenty of ideas.  It also shows you how to make your own dressings so that no nasty additives are being added.  My personal favourite is the strawberry, melon and chicken salad with an elderflower dressing.

Finally, I am loving my new Nike Running Trainers.  I love training shoes that have a pop of colour and when they have a bright sole like these, I’m sold and I need to have them! I’m not sure of what the exact style name is, sorry!  As they’re running shoes, they are incredibly light weight and super comfortable.  When you have new gym clothes, it’s amazing how much your motivation increases!

I hope you enjoyed reading about what I was loving during July.  I would love to hear what your monthly favourites were and your thoughts on my favourites if you too have tired them out.

Happy August when it arrives!

Love Hayley xx
