YSL Volupté Tint-In-Balm

Happy Valentines Day!!

Yves Saint Laurent releases it’s long awaited Volupté Tint-In-Balm in March however it was released a month early exclusive to Selfridges and I was lucky enough to get my hands on it.  First of all, can we all take a minute to appreciate the packaging and design which is truly beautiful.  I love YSL packaging as not only is it gorgeous but it is possibly the most luxurious out there.

This Tint-In-Balm gives instant colour glow and deeply moisturises your lips.  It is an innovative melting 2 in 1 formula which is enriched with jojoba oil, coriander macadamia oil as well as extracts from apricots, passion fruit and pomegranate.  It glides on the lips effortlessly keeping moisture locked in.  Don’t let the bright colours put you off.  I picked up No 7 which is a bright orange with fuscia lips however when applied to the lips it creates a light peachy coral tint. Once applied, to me it smells like watermelon which is rather pleasant.  It’s great for low maintenance touch ups and I absolutely adore it.

There are 12 shades within the collection and they retail at £27.

The perfect gift for Valentines Day xx

My Little Box February 2017 – Mountains

The February My Little Box has arrived and this month showcases a Wintery skiing and mountain theme.  I think I’m probably the only person who hasn’t tried a Winter sport however one day I would love to attempt skiing.  The scenery, the hot chocolates and the log cabins all look divine!

The box design is back to it’s ultra cute illustrations which is continued within the contents of the box.

When you open the box you are greated with a hand illustration and motivational quote.  Alongside this is the My Little Book containing an interesting factual read about mountains across the world and four soup recipes to keep you warm and cosy this month.  My particular favourite is the one for Thai Butternut Squash soup, yum!  MLB has also partnered with Stitch and Story offering subscribers 50 % off knitting materials.  They also include a free knitting pattern for a chunky ski snood complete with a sewing needle to get you started.

If you’re not familiar with MLB each month they include a selection of lifestyle and beauty items, which makes them stand out from the rest.  This month I am absolutely loving the contents.  First up with the lifestyle content are these navy sparkly socks which say “Cold” “Feet” on the ankles.  They’re really comfy socks keeping your tootsies nice and warm.

There is an adorable note book cut out in the shape of a mountain piste.  It has the Wintery illustration on the front and the note pages are ‘post-it’ style so you can stick these anywhere for little reminders.

The final item is a metal tin, similar size to a tin of Vaseline.  Inside contains a fabric embroidered broach which says ‘Coeur de Glace’ which translated to English reads Heart of Ice.  I had to google this one but it’s actually a song in the Disney film Frozen (Don’t judge, I’ve never seen it!)

The My Little Bag of beauty items this month has a ski print.  I love these cotton draw string bags as they’re so handy for travelling or storing jewellery, tights etc. I was very happy to receive the Benefit Pore Fessional primer.  It’s a travel sized edition and although it’s not a new discovery, it’s one of the best pore minimising primers out there.  A little goes along way and once applied to moisturised skin, it gives the perfect base for foundation.

The My Little Beauty item was a French Kiss lip balm.  Similar to the EOS lip balms, the format of this is in a ball shape which effectively allows you to apply all over your lips for precise application.  It’s easy to slot into your handbag and with a screw lid there’s no chance of it coming lose in your makeup bag.  The colour I received adds a nice rosy flush to your lips and is deeply moisturising and not sticky.  MLB products are really good and I would highly rate them.

Finally there was an Icy Magic Eye Contour Energiser from Polaar.  I’ve never heard of this brand however I was impressed with the packaging which gave it a more luxury feel to it.  It’s an invigorating roll on eye treatment that instantly hydrates and lifts dull puffy skin.  It is fortified with Siberian Ginseng that is a revitalising tonic and soothing gel.  Tetrapeptides visibly reduce oxidative stress and preserve skin elasticity.  The full sized version of this retails for £20.50 and is available in the UK from Look Fantastic.  I’m completely hooked.  I keep mine in the fridge for the extra coolness on application to the skin.  The perfect wake up call.

Once again My Little Box have came up trumps delivering a truly amazing box this month.  I have came across some new products which I’m loving, I have fashionable and cosy tootsies and Valentine ready lips.  I cannot wait to see what the futures months hold from MLB.  If you received this month’s box I’d love to know your thoughts and whether you received any different items.  Please leave a comment in the box below.

January 2017 Favourites

Can you believe that we’re waving goodbye to January already!? Time sure does fly by these days.  So far I’ve stuck to my resolutions which to be fair I’m usually very good at until it reaches Nov/Dec.  Although most people look at joining the gym, I figured that I would try something new and stick to it. So whilst continuing with the gym and gymnastics, I’ve started going to spinning classes.  It’s a brand that specialises only in spinning and their studios are fab – think of doing a work out in a nightclub setting, with neon lights, motivational instructors and tunes pumping. It’s so much fun! I’m thinking that this year I may also change my blog to include more lifestyle content, of the healthy variety.  Would you guys be interested in this? I’m thinking beauty and work out tips, updates on the spinning classes and healthy lifestyle choices such as smoothies.  All in all it relates to beauty and I think is a pretty good read. Let me know in the comments below!

Moving on, here is the first instalment of my 2017 favourites for the month of January.

First up is possibly THE best find that I’ve came across in a while.  If you are like me and have highlighted, coloured or bleached your hair to death then you really NEED this item in your life.  Olaplex Hair Perfector is a take home salon treatment for parched hair.  It is an intensive treatment which should be used once a week to strengthen chemically treated hair.  If your hair is severely damaged, my stylist advised to leave it on overnight.  Once you wash it out, your hair is manageable, stronger, softer (but not too soft if you have thin/fine hair) and feels and smells salon fresh.  It’s a miracle worker! You do need to use it weekly to see the true benefits, again on severely damaged hair, otherwise after 5 days your hair will look dehydrated again.  Since using it, my hair has definitely became stronger, I have less breakage and my hair seems to be growing faster.  I absolutely love this and couldn’t recommend it enough.  It retails at around £30 and although it’s only a 100ml bottle, a little goes a long way.

The Bliss Fabulous Foaming Face Wash is rather pricey at £22 however it is a two in one cleanser and exfoliator.  It contains rose hips, chamomile and passion flower to effectively cleanse the face leaving your skin feeling soft and fresh.  Since using this, my skin has looked brighter and much clearer.  I’ve also noticed a reduction in pore size which is always a bonus! I have had no breakouts, even at that time of the month.  I think it’s great and again this is something that lasts a long time.  I’ve taken part in a few makeup trials and it may be coincidental but strangers keep complimenting me on my skin when I’m bare faced.  I’m convinced that this product has played a part in this.  I’m excited to try more products from the Bliss range as this has set the bar very high.

During the cold Winter weather, it’s even more important to exfoliate your skin to get rid of dry skin, keep your skin glowing and a good deep clean.  The Soap & Glory Scrub Your Nose In It is an absolute gem.  Retailing at around £8, it is a pore refining scrub that has really gritty particles which I prefer on my skin as I feel like it gives a better clean.  The formula is a cross between a mud and clay, it contains fruit extracts and smells fresh like a cucumber.  You’ll definitely notice a difference after the first use.

Moving onto another form of scrub, this is the Bobbi Brown Beach Body Scrub.  I managed to pick this up in the January sales so although it retails for £25, I managed to get it for £12.25… bargain!  I have a feeling though that it may be discontinued item?  It is a lightly scented scrub that has hints of jasmine, sea spray and mandarin.  It smells devious and reminds me of Summer Holidays.  The texture is quite gritty with a luxurious rich lotion which quickly exfoliates whilst deeply moisturising.  It’s perfect for exfoliating prior to applying self tan (the grittier the better), but it does leave your skin feeling silky smooth. Love it!

I also picked up two packs of Popbands in the sale.  These were reduced from £6 to £2.50.  They’re gorgeous summer colours and add a pop of colour to even the simplest of outfits.  They are stretchy soft ‘no dent’ hair ties that hold hair up tight and still leave it fresh and kink free when you take it down.  You can also wear these as a bracelet on your wrist as super cute arm candy.

I am obsessed with the Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair face masks and when I saw that there was eye masks I had to try these out.  The Advanced Night Repair formula is a super luxe serum that prevents anti ageing, recovers skin from daily pollutions, enhances the condition and texture of the skin whilst deeply nourishing within.  These eye masks help if you’ve had long days, tired eyes or simply have fine lines around your eyes.  They moisturise and brighten and are absolutely fabulous.

My last item is something that I have been eyeing up for months! It is of course the Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze and Glow Palette.  The packaging is rose gold metallic and is simply gorgeous.  The palette includes a face sculpt which is a bronzer which should be applied onto the cheek hollows, ample, jaw line, sides and tip of the nose.  Followed by the highlight which should be applied to the cheek bones, centre of the nose bow of the lips and brow bone for candle lit skin.  I am fair skinned so I purchased the lighter shade.  This product will simply change your life! If you don’t fancy the £49 splurge, you should go to a Charlotte Tilbury stockist and ask them to apply it to your face.  Guaranteed you will also be hooked and most certainly will end up splurging.  I’ve even wore the sculpt shade with no foundation and instantly it just has this magnificent power of changing the shape of your face and making you look like a Film Star goddess. It will simple change your life!

I hope you enjoyed reading this post and I have introduced you to some new items to try out.  If you have already tried the products in this post I would love to hear your reviews so pop me a comment in the box below.

Origins – The Perfect World Gift Set

During the holiday season, Origins never fails to deliver on their limited edition gift sets.  They are great value for money as you will always find a full sized item accompanied with 4-5 additional decent sized products for the same price as the full size item.  I came across the Perfect World range when browsing at the duty free on route home for Christmas.  This line stands out from the rest as it contains White Tea.  I’ve never tried any products with tea in it so was very intrigued.

Now if you live in the city like myself, then it’s even more important to look after your skin as we endure higher levels of pollution which unfortunately has a negative impact on our skin by prematurely ageing and damaging the skin.  White tea helps is sort of like an age defender.  It helps to minimise the appearance of lines, wrinkles, dark spots and loss of firmness.  It also contains polyphenols which s a potent antioxidant that helps protect skin from damaging free radicals to keep skin looking and feeling youthful for longer.

The Perfect World set includes the Age Defense moisturiser that contains an SPF 25, the Antioxidant Cleanse, an Age-Defence treatment lotion and a Skin Guardian, all of which include White Tea in the ingredients.

The moisturiser is THE perfect base for make up.  It’s non greasy and absorbs quickly into the skin leaving it deeply moisturised and silky smooth.  It also helps to neutralise free radicals before they deface the skin so helps to prevent ageing.  It also includes an SPF which I think is essential in a day cream as this provides a barrier against sun rays.  Remember even on those cloudy days there’s damaging rays which a lot of people forget.  The scent is fresh containing orange and Bergamont.

The Age Defense Skin Guardian is a luxurious serum. I would say it has a thicker consistency than most however immediately when applied to the skin, you can feel that it’s working wonders.  It hydrates and brightens the skin, and from having using it for a few weeks now I can see that the texture of my skin has also improved.

The treatment lotion is like a bubble protector for the skin.  Used like a toner, this will refresh, soothe and hydrate the skin whilst leaving it feeling soft and smooth.

Finally the foaming face wash is antioxidant-rich and contains dirt grabbing minerals to gently cleanse the skin. It contains Palm, Coconut and Oat Amino Acid which will detoxify the skin and keep it free from harmful, free radical releasing impurities before they cause oxidation, deterioration and dehydration.  Skin is left feeling squeaky clean, smooth and refreshed.  And of course, the gift set came with this very cute makeup bag.

I have been using this set for 3-4 weeks now and I am absolutely loving all the products.  It’s part of the Origins range that I have never tried before and I am so glad I did.  Since using it, strangers have been complimenting me on the texture of my skin and that it looks clear.  I took part in an event last weekend at a department store where I had to remove my make up (yep on the busiest and most famous street in London!) and going bare faced seemed to attract a lot of positive comments… some sales assistants thought I was still wearing foundation! So it’s safe to say that these products most definitely work and I would highly recommend them.

The gift set cost £32 and the full size products retail between £22-£34.

Let me know if you have tried The Perfect World set and what your thoughts were.  Also let me know what your favourite Origins products are.

Have a great weekend

January 2017 – My Little Fresh Start Box

The January My Little Box caught me off guard this month as the illustrated box that they are renowned for was replaced by a soft cotton bag filled with goodies.  This month the theme is a Fresh Start, and as January is the month where we all try and reinvent ourselves and try new things what better way for MLB to trial out something new. The box will however be back next month, so don’t panic.

The bag is a soft cotton draw string bag featuring an inspirational quote on the front.  The idea is that you can reuse the bag for storing make up, knick knacks and for travelling, however I think I’ll be using this store my tights.  Who else buys new tights and quicker than you can blink some how they’ve been snagged in your drawer… first world problems!

The second change is that the My Little World magazine has been replaced with new surprises. I’m quite excited by this as I didn’t always find the magazine to be very appealing.  Having removed this feature, My Little Box can start to invest more within their contents.  There are five notecards, each featuring one small yet powerful way to change your life for the better.  There’s also this adorable and very useful Timeless Planner.  It’s a diary/agenda filled with questions designed to help you get to know yourself better this year, for example “Something you’d like to be famous for”.  Installing more “me time” enabling you to relax, focus on your goals and to look at the bigger picture. The planner is a hard back which is perfect for popping in your hand bag without getting crushed. I love it and will definitely be utilising it throughout the year.

The second lifestyle item was this gorgeous navy and dusky pink snood.  If you aren’t familiar with what a snood is, it’s basically a circular scarf.  This is cosy yet lightweight and it will dress up a simple outfit or black jumper.  I always like to keep a dressy scarf on over my dress at work as not only does it keep you nice and snug, it also looks sophisticated and professional.

There were four beauty items this month however I will only show three.  One of the items was toothpaste.  Some boxes had a berry one and I unfortunately received a mint one.  I have an odd phobia of mint (don’t ask!haha) so was not particularly happy to open my bag to the stench of mint.  I left my bag and its contents on my balcony for days so that the smell would evaporate, woops!

The other three items I was very excited to try.  I’ve seen the Garner Ultimate Blends range advertised in weekly magazines however had never noticed it in store.  This is the honey treasures restorer balm which is an intensive treatment for damaged hair.  I put my hair through hell from straightening and getting regular highlights so I’m looking forward to this luxurious treat.

The other two items were from the My Little Beauty collection.  This is such a good quality brand that I cannot wait for them to eventually release it in the UK.  Unfortunately the brand is only available to purchase in France so if you really like something it’s impossible to replace.

First up was a sweet hand cream.  It has a marshmallowy texture, it’s quite thick however rubs in well leaving your hands feeling fresh, nourished and soft.  It dries instantly so doesn’t leave a greasy finish.

The second item was the Boost Yourself Revitalising Body Cream. This is a fruity lotion containing sunflower seed oil and ginger.  It’s moisturising and feels light on the skin.  I love the packaging of the My Little Beauty items as they stick with the pastel hues.

Hats off to My Little Box by starting the year of on a high.  Hopefully this box sets the standard on what’s yet to come throughout the year.  I am very happy with the box (bag) and it’s contents…minus the minty incident.

If you received the My Little Box this month I’d love to know what items you received and what you’ll be using your bag for.  If you are subscribed to any other boxes and had a great January box I’d love to hear all about them.

My Little Box December 2016 – Christmas Edition

This is my second box since being resubscribed and after the November box, MLB most definitely had a level of expectation to upkeep. This box has an incredibly festive feel to it.  This month the hand drawn illustrations have been replaced with a gorgeous festive pattern of holly leaves and sprigs with other festive foliage adorning the box. Likewise instead of the ribbon inside the box keeping everything together, a beautiful green ribbon was tied around the box with a strawberry candy cane. Nice touch MLB!

When opening the box, you are greeted with a seasonal Christmas illustration with warm and cosy  festive wishes.. “I wish you snuggles under wooden duvets and kisses under the mistletoe”. A very positive and happy note.  The My Little World magazine was filled with fashion inspiration, party prep techniques, a snowy day manicure, how to braid hair and some very useful recipes including a detox fruit shake.  I think I will definitely be investing in making this once we hit the new year.

The first item in the box which caught my eye was this cute glass jar of salted caramel spread from Tiptree.  Anything that comes in a miniature size is adorable, who’s with me?! This spread tastes insanely delicious.  It would be perfect for dipping breadsticks into although may be slightly sickly on toast.  It’s rich and thick.  I’ve never came across a salted caramel spread before however I’m officially hooked!

The next food item was this pot of tea leaves by Kusmi Tea.  The flavour is Tsarevna which is a black tea flavoured with orange and spices.  It smells of aniseed and looks interesting however I’m not sure it’s my cup of tea (* no pun intended!) as I am a sucker for breakfast tea… pass the Tetley! The jar has such a pretty design and the lid has flowers embossed on it.

There were to lifestyle items this month.  The first being this lovely Feu De Bois candle.  It smells light, fresh and pine/forest like.  Perfect for cosy Winter nights in by the Christmas tree.  I love candles so this is a great addition to my collection.

Next up was a bracelet.  Now if you’ve been reading my blog for a while then you’ll know that I cancelled my My Little Box Subscription towards the end of last year because the lifestyle items became questionable and there was a “cheap” gold metal bracelet where you threaded embroidery thread through.  This bracelet is cute however is not for me unfortunately so I know that this will find its way to the bottom of the drawer never to be seen again.

The beauty items this month included a shower oil by L’Occitane.  This smells and feels amazing on the skin.  It contains almond oil and smells like almonds.  It feels luxurious and leaves your skin feeling deeply moisturised and silky smooth.  It leaves faint scent on the skin and is the perfect seasonal product.

Next was the Hyperbole fragrance from Courreges.  I’ve never heard of this brand before and probably wouldn’t be my go to choice of scent and brand.  The fragrance has a zesty spicy kick to it and includes notes of bergamot, white pepper and tonka bean.

Lastly from the My Little Beauty collection there was the Christmas Melody Duo Smoky Eye palette.  The colours are a shimmery taupey lilac and a darker plum brown with subtle lilac fleck.  I love the taupe colour.  Both are a creamy powder formula making them easy to apply and blend.  Both colours compliment each other well and it’s the perfect size for popping into your handbag.

I think that My Little Box continues to up their game and it’s evident that as a previous subscriber, the MLB team are continuing to put more thought and effort into their boxes.  I really enjoyed this month’s box, and absolutely loved the November box.  I have high expectations for the January box and cannot wait to find out what 2017 will bring for this brand.

Are any of you subscribed to My Little Box or previous subscribers?  I would love to know your thoughts on this month’s box.

Until next time

Love Hayley xx
