My Little Box – November 2016

Hi Lovelies,

So after much deliberation, I have decided to re-start my subscription to My Little Box.  It helped that during Black Friday they had an offer for 50% off for new members making the first box only £7 compared to the usual £14.95.  I stopped my subscription earlier this year as I was finding the content to be rather lame.  My Little Box is different to the other beauty boxes out there as they try to add a selection of beauty and lifestyle items.  It was the lifestyle items that started going down hill, for example they were sending plant pot covers and cheap gold bracelets that you threaded to customise?! Definitely not my cup of tea.  However I’ve been reading everyone’s posts over the past few months and it seems as though My Little Box have definitely upped their game.

Introducing the November box, Goodnight.  This theme of this box focuses on your night time routine, getting all warm and snuggly, having a bit of a pamper session before heading off to catch some zzz’s.  The beauty and lifestyle items follow the same theme which makes a difference and the box feeling more luxurious and exciting.  Each box always contains three beauty items, two lifestyle items, a magazine and a cute print.

The magazine this month is more editorial than previous booklets and thankfully there are no more silly fold out posters. The box continues to come with an adorable print which is written in French and translated to English.  Some of these make great post cards and educate you around some interesting French facts, people or locations.

The lifestyle items are absolutely gorgeous.  My favourite being the ceramic jewellery dish in the shape of a moon.  It’s hand made, hand painted and it looks incredibly cute on my bedside table.  It’s a handy little dish to keep your rings and earrings in, especially if you forget to remove them before you jump into bed.

The second lifestyle item is this gorgeous reversible sleep eye mask.  It feels luxurious and soft.  it’s padded and has an elasticated strap to fit comfortably on your head.  On one side it says “To the moon and back” and on the other it features a moon and star design.  I will definitely be using this and will come in very handy on my next night flight.

The beauty items did not disappoint either. Inside the super soft fabric bag was a Moonrise makeup removing jelly.  This is by the My Little Beauty brand.  It is a clear jelly that turns milky when it comes into contact with water.  It has a faint green tea fragrance and contains camellia oil.  It is a skin calming pre bedtime cleanse that leaves your skin feeling incredibly clean and silky smooth.  It is 99.5% natural, vegan and suitable for all skin types.

To follow on from cleansing and removing your makeup comes the Garnier Skin Active Pure Active 3 in 1 Wash, Scrub, Mask.  It’s 50ml which is great for travelling or simply to sample.  It contains eucalyptus extract, zinc and salicylic acid.  It’s ideal if you have oily skin prone to imperfections, visible pores and shine.

Lastly nestled at the bottom of the bag was the Yves Rocher Accord Chic fragrance.  I’m not one for perfume samples as I tend to stick to the same scents.  I also think it’s taken the space of another item as perfume virals can be picked up for free in any department store.  Nevertheless, this fragrance has pink peppercorn and iris extracts creating a sophisticated evening scent.  It has a slightly sweet edge.  To be honest I would probably pass this one by if I saw it inshore however I quite like the scent.  It’s 5ml so it’s perfect for popping in your handbag.

I would love to know your thoughts on My Little Box, whether it be on the November box, previous boxes and if you decided to stop/start your subscription.  I am very impressed with this box and have high expectations for their December Christmas box (don’t let me down MLB!!).  Looking forward to future months!

Love Hayley

November 2016 Favourites

Hi Lovelies,

We’ve finally reached December, the best month of the year!! Not only do we have snow on our blogs, there’s twinkly lights and sparkle everywhere you look. I love it! October/November is when we start seeing all the limited edition Christmas beauty gifts being released which means my wish list continues to grow at a rapid rate.  November was definitely my splurge month where I managed to purchase some items that I had been lusting after for a while and others were new discoveries.

Diptyque Violette Candle – £42

I think I mentioned in one of my previous blogs that I recently moved apartment so I’m still busy adding little bits and bobs to make it homely.  This candle is by far my favourite item of November, although I would go as far as saying it’s the best homely item of the year! Diptyque is a French brand specialising in candles, home fragrance, skin and body care, and fragrance.  This candle smells exactly like the retro candy Parma Violets.  It’s quite sweet however at the same time warm and welcoming.  You don’t need to constantly burn it to smell it.  If I burn it, a week later I can still smell it when I walk into the apartment.  Love love love!! It’s perhaps slightly more on the pricier side however it burns for 60+ hours.

Emma Hardie – Moringa Cleansing Balm and Cleansing Cloth – £38

This is a luxurious botanical cleansing balm that removes all traces of make up, including waterproof mascara.  It’s silky, hydrating and doubles up as a soothing and softening mask.  It contains mooring seeds, wild sea fennel and vitamin E to help balance, purify and minimise the appearance of open pores, whilst a blend of orange, neroli and mandarin extracts give an uplifting scent.  It also contains jasmine and rose help to revitalise dull, dry skin.  It’s absolutely amazing! If you are thinking of purchasing this item it’s important to also buy the cloth, although usually you get this free. You soak the cloth in warm water, place over your face for a few seconds then sweep down on the face and your face is fully cleansed. This is the best cleansing product I’ve came across.

Urban Decay All Nighter Foundation – £27

I purchased the lightest shade, 0.5, and found that this foundation blends seamlessly onto the skin.  It definitely stays put all day without having to touch up.  It’s a full coverage which can feel quite heavy on the skin however if I need less coverage I’ll mix this in with a lighter textured foundation or add a drop of my moisturiser to it.  If you have any break outs this is perfect as it covers any imperfections in one swipe, which will prevent any “cakey face” situations.

Elizabeth Arden City Smart – £49.50

For everyone who lives in a city, do you ever find that when you remove your makeup your skin still feels rather grimy and your pores are clogged? Chances are it’s because your skin has been breathing in pollution from smog, exhaust fumes, air con in an office environment or travelling on the underground.  Since moving to London I’ve noticed that my skin can feel clogged, looks dull and dehydrated.  This product is a game changer.  It’s the only product on the market that acts as a barrier from pollution, the sun and against visible ageing.  I’ve started using this daily after moisturiser but before applying make up and I’ve started to notice a difference.  My pores are less visible, my skin feels less agitated and the brightness is back in my skin.  I would recommend stopping by any department store and asking for a sample before you buy.  I’m sure you won’t be disappointed.

Kat Von D Lock It Creme Concealer – £20

I’d heard a lot of great reviews about Kat Von D products and here in the UK the brand is now available to purchase in Debenhams.  On occasion, when my skin is playing up, my make up can slip which is so frustrating so I was on the look out for something with good staying power.  This is a creamy concealer which is bendable, gives full coverage and lasts all day without having to touch up.  It easily brightens the under eye, reduces redness, covers blemishes without a cake appearance and also acts as a great highlighter.  I don’t wear this with a foundation from the range as I feel as though they are too heavy for my skin.  I mix this concealer with a L’Oreal foundation which works well together.

Kat Von D Lock it Edge Foundation Brush – £26

This foundation brush caught my eye with its sleek design.  It features a sculpted shape that conforms to the curves and contours of your face.  The bristles are synthetic and can reach every angle of your face.  It makes blending super easy especially at the side of your nose or under eye.  This brush helps you to achieve the best coverage, wear and finish from your foundation.  It’s also easy to wash and dries keeping its shape with no moulting.

Snowflake Brooch – £7

It’s coming up to Christmas and when I saw this cute sparkly number I knew I just had to have this gorgeous snowflake brooch. I picked it up in Marks and Spencers, and it adds that little extra something to a black sleek coat.

Let me know what items you were loving during November in the comments below.  If you have tried any of the above items I would love to hear your thoughts.  I hope you enjoyed reading this post and had a great weekend.

The Easy Guide To Saving Money via Online Shopping

Hey Everyone,

With the festive season fast approaching, we will all no doubt be spending a lot on gifts, food, going out, the Winter sales when they arrive… the list is endless! With that said I’m sure everyone would be interested in saving some money as they shop, therefore I wanted to tell you about a very easy way of doing so.  Unfortunately this is only applicable to online shopping and if you live in the UK as you’re paid in GBP.

My friend first introduced me to the website topcashback which is basically a website that offers cash back on numerous retailers such as Selfridges, TopShop, Waitrose, utility companies such as insurance, entertainment and leisure.  It is the UK’s No1 and most generous cash back site.

It’s free to join/sign up and basically all you do is create an account, then search for the retailer you wish to purchase from, the site will then load up the retailers website and you shop as normal.  In the background the topcashback website calculates the percentage of cash back due on the back of the amount you spend with your chosen retailer.  It’s completely safe and trust worthy!

I shop online a lot and over the past 12 months I have earned £642.  That’s basically free money! It’s very straight forward to transfer the cash to your bank account.  Similar to the process on Paypal and the funds credit your bank account within 3 working days.

If you fancy having a look and signing up, please use my link by clicking here.  This will enable you to gain your first £5 for free.

This post is completely non sponsored.  Just thought I’d share the love and help you all save some cash.  If you need anymore information or you’d like to ask me any questions, pop a comment in the box below.

Until Next Time…

Black Friday Haul 2016

Hi Lovelies

As Thanksgiving passes us by, it can only mean one thing… Black Friday deals have arrived! Here in the UK we don’t celebrate Thanksgiving however we have adopted the US phenomenon which is Black Friday where endless retailers drop their prices by up to 50%.  I’m not one of these crazed people who will camp out just to buy five huge TVs (surely that’s just greed and unnecessary!?!).  I prefer to stick to online shopping. Less hassle, same discounts and delivered to your door…I would definitely say the sensible option.

I managed to pick up quite a few deals for myself, finished my Christmas shopping (yippee!!) and saved a lot of money in the process! Here’s a selection of the items that I managed to purchase:

Selfridges, the UK’s most famous and luxurious department store was offering 20% off all brands and 10% off beauty.  I purchased this gorgeous business card/credit card holder from Aspinal of London.  It’s real leather, has a stud closure and has the Aspinal logo embossed on the front and written in silver on the back. This was reduced from £50 to £44.

I also continued with my Diptyque candle obsession by purchasing the Baies candle which was £42 reduced to £33.60

Debenhams, another department store, was giving 10% off their fragrance. I have been eyeing up the Chanel No.5 L’Eau for ages! I bought the smaller version which was £68 down to £61.  However I managed to get it for £40 as I redeemed the points on my beauty card.  Bonus!

I was slightly disappointed with the offers in Victoria’s Secret and VS Pink. I thought that the pyjama’s would have been discounted however I believe they will in the Winter sale.  They were offering 50% on bra’s, sports bra’s, selected lounge wear, leggings and only one VS Pink hoodie.  I picked up a sports bra that was reduced from £32 to £16 and yoga leggings that were £42 to £21.

Kurt Geiger now stocks Michael Kors shoes online!! Who knew! I found these stunning metallic gold heels reduced from £125 to £100.  They’re a really faint gold but the perfect shoe to take you into the party season.  I wore them to a fashion event on Saturday and got endless compliments on them. Love them!

Dune had 20% off so I managed to get the last pair of boots in my size.  I’ve been eyeing these up since September.  They are knee high riding boots with the elastic stretch on the back.  Reduced from £125 to £100.

Marks and Spencer have definitely upped their game in the beauty stakes as they now stock brands such as Emma Hardie, Ren, Rodial, Philip Kingsley and Neal’s Yard.  They marked down their beauty range by 50%!! I picked up this gorgeous set of hand creams which were reduced from £26 to £12 (I know, more than 50%!), and a coco butter hand wash and hand cream duo reduced from £6.50 to £3.25.

Finally, I think with this offer if you blinked you may have missed it.  Boots marked down their Real Techniques Bold Metal gift sets by 50%!! I of course picked up both the eye and face sets, which were £20 each rather than £40.  I think this was most definitely the best bargain as one brush retails for £15.  Each set comes with a bag to roll your brushes into to keep them intact however these will definitely be on display on my dressing table as they are so pretty!

What bargains did you all pick up during this weekend’s sales?  Did you encounter any madness in the stores or did you opt for online shopping?  I would love to hear what you purchased so please leave a comment below.

I hope you enjoyed reading this post,

Have a great week!

Love to all

Elizabeth Arden – The Red Door Spa Experience

Happy Monday Everyone!

For all the beauty junkies out there, I have some fabulous news! Elizabeth Arden has opened it’s red door spa in Debenhams on Oxford Street here in London. To commemorate the grand opening, the brand held a two week long event in Debenhams where they were giving away 1000 customised facials and a complimentary goodie bag. All you had to do was sign up paying the £15 booking fee, which was then redeemable on the day against any of the brands products. In addition to that you were given a goodie bag worth £60 which contained a gorgeous make up.

I managed to sign up so went along last weekend. The girl who I was with was the Head of Retail for the UK and Ireland so I knew straight away I was in safe hands. She was absolutely lovely and was very knowledgeable on the products and which would be tailored to my skin type. The hour long session started off with a consultation to determine your skin type and needs. They use a hand held machine against your cheek to determine your moisture, pigmentation, elasticity levels. I was 99% on my elasticity levels, go me! However my skin was lacking in moisture, which I was aware of as it’s that time of year. Once my face was fully cleansed, I had an oxygen blast facial. I was incredibly excited to try this out. Basically a little gun is filled with a special serum and is sprayed over your face. Adding in the oxygen, it gently removes any red patches, cleans your pores and makes your complexion radiant and silky smooth. My face has never felt so clean. Afterwards the girl talked me through both a morning and evening skin care routine.
I purchased three products in the end, which I have been wanting to try for ages however I didn’t fully know the benefits of each product.

First up I purchased Superstart – £54, which is a skin renewal booster. Once you’ve washed your face, does your skin ever feel really tight? I thoughts that was a good sign and apparently it’s not. You would apply this product once you’ve washed your face and before you apply moisturiser or serum. The product works to restore the healthy look of your skin’s essential surface layer, fortifying its natural ability to repair and renew. It contains botanical glasswort extract, sea fennel and flaxseed which all work together to strengthen the skin. Once applied it makes your skin feel incredibly smooth and healthy. It’s non greasy and quickly absorbs into the skin.

From the Prevage range, I purchased City Smart – £49.50. If you live in the city you HAVE to have this in your life!! It’s no surprise that here in London, the air is vastly polluted and going about every day life is damaging to your skin. Whether it be from exhaust fumes, hopping on and off the tube or sitting in an air conditioned office, these elements impact the texture and brightness of the skin. My skin usually feels incredibly grimy once I’ve came home from work with more pores clogged with oil. This product works as a barrier from pollution, the sun and against visible ageing. Now when I come home after being at work for 12 hours, my skin looks healthy and clear. The product has a colour similar to foundation. However once applied to the skin it’s unnoticable. Therefore it can be applied to every skin tone. It’s no wonder that this product has won 187 beauty awards!

Lastly I purchased the Flawless Future Moisturiser – £36. It contains an SPF 30 and you would apply this after Superstart and City Smart. It is easily absorbed into the skin and provides the perfect make up base. This product prevents the ageing of the skin, dullness, fine lines, uneven skin tone and reduces enlarged pores. After continued use, skin feels more supple, luminous and mositurised. Since using these 3 products for a week, I have noticed a considerable difference in the texture of my skin and my dry patches have started to disappear.

Alongside these items, I received the goodie bag which consisted of this gorgeous and huge make up bag. Inside there was a travel sized Superstart, City Smart, the Presage daily serum, mascara, fragrance and a 30ml eight hour intensive hand treatment.

I love the Eight Hour range by Elizabeth Arden to be honest I never really taken too much notice of their skincare range until now. I would highly recommend that you try out their products and if you are passing through Debenhams, stop off for a complimentary Oxygen Boost Facial. Currently Debenhams has 10% off the brand and if you purchase two items, you receive a similar free gift to the above.

If you have tried any of the Arden products or experience the facials I would love to hear your reviews. I hope you enjoyed reading this post.

Enjoy your week

October 2016 Favourites

Hi Guys

Sorry for the late post.  I’m still trying to find my feet within my new apartment and the last few weeks have consisted of unpacking, furnishing, working and a little pit stop back home to refresh and escape from the city.  However I’m back with my October favourites (:

October was a great month.  Not only did we start to see all the Autumnal colours coming out, Lush launched their Christmas collection. This can only mean one thing… Snow Fairy is back and in a super sized version, yippee!! I will definitely be stocking up again this year. If you aren’t familiar with Snow Fairy, it’s a shower gel which smells of bubble gum, is pink with a bit of shimmer and smells amazing! It’s seriously my favourite smelling product ever!!

A made quite a few discoveries this month and here is a selection of the ones I was loving the most during the month.

Charlotte Tilbury – Take It All Off – £24

This eye make up remover is outstanding and does exactly what it says in the tin.  Eradicating the need to rub or scrub your delicate eye area to remove mascara and eye shadow, this product instantly dissolves all traces of make up.  It is an oil rich, two toned cleanser enriched with soothing organic cornflower water and regenerating Veronica Extract.  The pump dispenser is ingenious and is like a saucer to hold the fluid and pump directly onto cotton wool. I use two pumps onto cotton wool, leave the pad on my eye for about 30 seconds and wipe away.  Skin is left feeling soft and there’s no dragging on your eyes, which ultimately ends up causing fine lines.  I would definitely recommend this product.

Lush – Santa Baby Lip Scrub – £5.75

This lip scrub is a great way to prime your pout, buffing away any dry patches.  You basically rub it over your lips, then lick off the excess leaving your lips feeling soft and smooth. Caster sugar, dates and cherries are the key ingredients and throughout the product there are edible and dis-solvable hearts.  The product is super addictive as it tastes like cola cubes!

MAC – Lip Intensity Lip Stick – £17.50

MAC launched at the end of September their range of Lip Intensity lipsticks.  There are 24 shades to the collection ranging from gorgeous nudes to a variety of pinks, post box reds to vibrant purple and lilacs. There’s a shade to compliment every skin tone.  The formula is gel based and melts on the lips providing adequate moisture.  It is highly pigmented resulting in extreme colour intensity, vibrancy and clarity.  I opted for the shade Doe which is a sophisticated nude.  I have very pale skin and this does not leave me looking washed out. It adds an edge and makes me look vibrant.  Love it!

Primark – Mini Blender Sponges – £2

This cost effective packet contains 3 mini make up sponges which are perfect for blending foundation at the corner of your nose, under eyes, concealing any break outs and contouring the nose.  I was a bit sceptical using these as I swear by my beauty blender however I was pleasantly surprised.  The sponges keep their shape, easy to wash and they’re soft and bouncy which makes it easy to apply product.

Vaseline Lip Therapy  – £2.99

Vaseline recently collaborated with Lulu Guinness launching this adorable limited edition tin of their lip therapy.  As the temperatures start to drop as we near the end of the year, it’s essential to keep our lips moisturised.  Vaseline is a staple must have item. It’s also great for any skin irritations or dry patches.

Lush – Shoot for The Stars Bath Bomb – £4.25

I’m really getting into baths and I’m starting to see why there was so much hype about bath bombs.  They’re fabulous! This bath bomb is part Lush’s Christmas range and looks absolutely gorgeous.  It has glittery gold stars and when popped into the bath, these a thick cocoa butter stars which release lots of gold glitter into the bath.  Although the bomb is blue, your bath will turn a delightful shade of green and the stars turn yellow.  The scent is citrusy, refreshing and mostly like oranges.

NYX – First Base Primer Spray – £7

I was intrigued by this product as I hadn’t come across a priming spray.  It preps your skin by smoothing out the texture to enable a flawless make up application.  It leaves the skin feeling supple and refreshed, and adds a little pick me up to your morning routine.

I hope you enjoyed reading this post and hopefully I may have introduced you to some new items on the market.  Let me know whether you have tried any of the above products and what your thoughts were.  Also, if there are any other products that you were loving last month I’d love to know what they were.

Until next time…
