The July Look Fantastic beauty box arrived a few weeks ago. This month’s box includes brands and the same items which have been doing the rounds on the beauty box circuit for some time now. I am not overly excited by the contents of this month’s box and wait for it, I think that after I receive my August box I will be cancelling this one. There are two reasons for this. Firstly, when the LF box originally came out and it a case of pre ordering the month prior, the box contents were worth around £90 and consisting of high quality brands and of products which were either new or yet to be released onto the market. Now, it’s repetition of what other companies are including and the box value has dramatically decreased to around £30. And secondly, I have the hump with Look Fantastic at the moment as their customer service has went downhill and I have to say it’s pretty shocking. If you were like me and paid an upfront fee for 6 months, beware and check your bank statements!! I have been charged a one off cost AND a monthly cost. I have been waiting to get my full amount refunded now for 5 weeks and I’m STILL waiting. Did anyone else have this issue? It’s odd because they’re usually very good at this.
So moving on from my little rant, here are this month’s box contents.
Lord & Berry Lip Liner £4.95
I really like L&B products as I find it to be very similar to the likes of Bobby Brown. The lip liner that I received is in the shade “Nude” however it is anything but nude. It is a really dark mauve brown colour which is so apparent when applied to outline the lips. It’s easy to blend however it’s definitely suited to someone with a darker or olive skin tone rather than myself with a very pale complexion. The formula is enriched with conditioning ingredients such as macadamia oil and waterlily extracts to soften and protect the skin. It is waterproof and lasts all day without having to top up.
Trilogy – Everything Balm £11.25
I was rather intrigued by this product as I have never came across it before. It is a perfect multi tasking product ideal for pretty much anything! It can be used as a lip balm, heel balm, hand cream, massage oil, nappy cream and an all over face and body moisturiser. It is slightly difficult to get enough of the product on your finger to apply and you do need a few coats to actually feel its heeling powers. It’s fragrance free and free of mineral oil, lanolin and parabens.
Balance Me – Pure Skin Face Wash £8 for 50ml
This brand is a bit of a funny one. I really want to like it but I just think all the products from this brand smell the same. And it’s not an attractive smell. This face wash was good however and it didn’t break me out in any pimples. My face felt cleansed and fresh after using it . It features a blend of calming spruce knot extract, grapefruit and soothing frankincense essential oils which all assist in creating a brighter complexion. It’s a white gel cream which lathers well.
Nuxe – Huile Prodigieuse Oil Sample £3.40 for 10ml (Full size RRP £17)
This dry oil is the number one selling oil in France. It is made up of six precious plant oils that include macadamia, hazelnut, borage, almond, camellia and St John’s Wort. This cult product nourishes, repairs and softens skin and hair. It can be used as a hair mask or an all over body moisturiser. It’s non greasy and has a pleasant fragrance. It’s quick drying and non sticky. I would say that this is an excellent item for taking on vacation.
Monu – Firming Fji Facial Oil Sample (Full size RRP £26)
This product is soothing and prevents dehydration. It contains a refreshing blend of Bois de Rose and Patchouli essential oils which calms skin and leaves it feeling firmer and visibly radiant. Natural plant oils are said to pamper pores and stimulate the complexion.
I’m still not overly convinced on facial oils as usually they make me break out however thankfully this one hasn’t. It has a very faint fragrance and is non sticky. It’s quick to dry and soak into the skin.
Kebelo – Clarifying Shampoo Sample £2.50 (Full size £20.50)
Think about how much product you apply to your hair every day – hairspray, thickener, serums etc. Over time this builds up on the scalp and hair, which leaves it feeling heavy and greasy. Everyone should introduce a clarifying shampoo to their hair routine at least once every two weeks. This product uses mild ingredients which are gentle on the hair, leaving it detoxed which feeling soft and purified. After use, it’s as if your hair is salon fresh and the products that you apply will seem like brand new discoveries. They won’t have to work as hard and you will notice a difference straight away. There’s not too many clarifying shampoos that I’ve came across however I still swear by the one made by Pantene as it comes in a huge bottle for about £3.
