Birchbox August Review – #BeautyJunkie

Hi Lovelies,

The August Birchbox has arrived and what a box it was! Based on the theme #BeautyJunkie, there is a mixture of emoji’s to capture your mood whilst combining a selection of perfectly chosen hair and skin beauty products to bring out your inner beauty junkie. I’ve been a loyal subscriber to Birchbox for years and I can safely say that this box is by far the best! From the ultra cool packaging to the high quality selection of brands, this is a sure fire winner.

The box packaging is covered in little beauty emoji’s which also feature on a sheet of stickers included this month. I’m not sure about you but I love stickers, stationary etc so seeing this did put a smile on my face.

Rituals | Fortune Scrub

RRP £10 for 150ml | Received 70ml Sample

I absolutely love Rituals scrubs and lotions. I received a gift box at Christmas and have never looked back. I had been looking to try this scrub for a while now so was pleasantly surprised to find it in this month’s box. It has an uplifting fragrance of sweet orange and cedar wood. It contains micro particles which effectively banishes dull dry skin leaving skin feeling revitalised, fresh and exfoliated. This works wonders and is the perfect pre-fake tan exfoliator.

Lord & Berry | Blush in ‘Lotus’

RRP £18 for 24g | Received .02g Sample

L&B products always remind me of Bobby Brown cosmetics. They are good value and long lasting. This sample is very small however its perfect for popping in your handbag. The blush is in the colour lotus which is a warm rosy pink. A little goes a long way. It has a soft velvety finish which blends beautifully for a seamless finish.

Huygens | Exfoliating Cream

RRP £17.90 for 50ml | Received 10ml Sample

Now this is a brand that I’ve never came across before and was very intrigued. Huygens is a French brand with sophisticated packaging. This facial scrub is ah-maz-zing!! Not only does it smell incredibly delicious like freshly peeled lemons, it uses rice powder particles to smooth and purify skin without irritation. The product is very light and it reminds me of soufflé. It leaves skin glowing after the first use and all dry skin is buffed away. I will definitely be purchasing the full sized item. Love love love!!

Kebelo | Clarifying Shampoo

RRP £13.95 for 250ml  | Received 50ml Sample

I was very glad to find a clarifying shampoo in my box as I’ve actually just ran out of my current bottle of Pantene. I would recommend that everyone invests in a clarifying shampoo to get rid of the yucky product build up from daily styling. You will notice a huge difference, especially if you have fine hair, and your styling products won’t have to work so hard. After one use of this, my hair felt super clean and had more body. My blonde hair was also very shiny (note..it is very difficult to get noticeably shiny blonde hair!) The product lathers well and is fragrance free.

The Balm Cosmetics | Balm Desert Bronzer

RRP £15.00 for 6.39g  | Received 0.8g Sample

The Balm Cosmetics are very similar to Benefit. I absolutely love the packaging which is quirky and fun. The sample was very small however like L&B a small amount goes a long way! This bronzer gives skin a fresh sun-kissed look that lasts all day. It can be used to contour the face or just simply dusted over cheekbones to achieve a natural glow.

L.Erickson | Grab & Go Ponytail Band

RRP £11.50

This is a metal free ponytail band which is made from sturdy threaded elastic. It is kind to hair and will prevent snagging. I like the little bead which makes this hair tie stand out from the rest.

Overall I am very impressed with this month’s box. As you know I have a “slight” beauty box obsession and Birchbox is always the one that is the most reliable and doesn’t churn out the same brands month on month. If you fancy signing up, please feel free to use my referral link. It will entitle you to £5 off in the Birchbox shop.

What did you think of August’s Birchbox? Are you as impressed as I am? What do you think of subscription boxes in general? As always, I’d love to read your thoughts in the comments.

Thanks for reading!

Love FT xx
