The first beauty box of the New Year has arrived from Birchbox and this month it is in association with Pinterest. On first glance I was very excited to see what the contents would be as the outer box is pretty cute with shiny red writing and instagram/Pintrest style photos.
The theme “Best Year Ever” is to inspire you to make 2016 your year! Filled with positivity, inspiration, ideas for everyday life and beauty tutorials, the usual box menu was accompanied with five adorable specially illustrated postcards, by designer Viktorija Semjonova.
So what’s in the box I hear you ask?!
Benefit – They’re Real Tinted Primer – £18.50
This is a game changing product which makes a huge difference, particularly if you lack natural volume in your lashes. This will tint, define and prime lashes. It is a mink brown primer which can be worn alone to give lashes a natural feathery look. Or you can wear before applying mascara to boost length and separate lashes. No more clumps or having your lashes stuck together. It is a high performing gel formula which is water resistant and conditions with provitamin B5. I really liked this item and it definitely did not disappoint.
Birchbox Bonus Item – Compact Mirror – £4
I love when Birchbox adds a bonus item and this month it was in the form of a compact mirror. It’s like a badge you would get on a birthday card. One side is the mirror and the other has a “No Filter” slogan printed on it.
Eyeko – Fat Liquid Eyeliner (Full Size Received) – £12
I love Eyeko products as they are long lasting and of such a good quality. This is a chubby pen which delivers an effortless slick of smudge-proof definition to the lashline. You will be able to successfully achieve a bold, high impact cat eye flick. Alternatively how I apply it, is that I lay it on it’s side on top of my lash line to create a flawless thin line above the lashline.
Caudalie – Fleur de Vigne Shower Gel – £9
I was always in two minds about Caudalie products, mainly as one of their main scents in their products is mint! Mint makes me feel incredibly nauseous (don’t ask!) However this shower gel contains no mint!! Yay!! Instead it has a light refreshing fragrance of cucumber, lime and coconut. It’s delicious! It’s a calming body wash which contains aloe vera, white rose, rose pepper and grape blossom. It’s ok to use on sensitive skin and leaves your skin feeling hydrated and silky smooth.
Parlor – Moisturising & Repairing Shampoo and Conditioner – £16 each
This duo arrived at the right time. Winter weather and too much heat styling over the Christmas period has taken a toll on my locks. This duo is lightweight, so good to use on fine hair. It will aid hair repair by strengthening and deeply hydrating your hair. The fragrance is the brand’s signature ripe peach and freshly cut grass scent, which isn’t over powering. It smells rather sweet and your hair feels salon fresh after the first use.
Absolution – L’Eau Soir et Matin – £27
This is a purifying cleansing water for removing make up. It’s packed with kind to skin ingredients such as hazelnut oil and aloe vera. It removes I would say around 95% of make up. I had to apply it twice on my eyes to fully remove mascara however it does leave your skin feeling soft and refreshed.
Overall I was very happy with the contents of this month’s box and hopefully for the year ahead, Birchbox will have it’s best year ever! As you know I’ve been a loyal subscriber now for 3.5 years and have never looked back. Birchbox you continue to outshine the rest of the beauty boxes out there!
Let me know your thoughts on the items listed. Have you tired any of these? I would love to know your thoughts. Also, if you received this month’s box I would love to know whether you received any different products from me.
Thanks for reading and enjoy the rest of your week!
Love Hayley xx
