Happy 1st of February!
Time really is flying by isn’t it!? As January comes to a close and February welcomes us whole heartedly, it’s time to reflect on the products that I was loving during the first month of 2016. So many brands decided to launch new products for the New Year, and with many set to release over the coming month, this year is definitely off to a great start.
The Pore Professional – Instant Wipe Out Masks – £24.50
As soon as I heard that Benefit were creating an extended line to their Pore Professional range I was very excited! If you haven’t tried their P.P. primer, then you are missing out. It’s brilliant! Now they have added a matte gel pore refiner to the collection and these awesome face masks.
There are 8 masks in the packet which will clean out and smooth the look of pores around your nose, chin and forehead. The secret ingredient is mushroom extract which clarifies pores. The masks are a special textured cotton fabric that helps to exfoliate impurities. They have a rather quirky design where you press the button on the packet which will release the serum and fully saturate the mask. You leave the mask on for 10 minutes for the serum to sink into the skin and afterwards, your skin does feel fresher, cleaner and tightened. For an extra kick, I stored my masks in the fridge because I love the cooling sensation when you apply a fabric mask.
Soap and Glory Speed Plump Moisture Mouse – £14
Soap and Glory’s skin care range is brilliant! I swear by their face wash and day moisturisers. When I heard about this I knew I just had to have it. I’ve never seen a mouse moisturiser before. It’s a bubbly formation (Think of an Aero chocolate bar) which then turns into a cream. It’s incredibly hydrating and is perfect for tired, dry and dehydrated skin. I wouldn’t recommend just any product but this one is completely amazing and will change your skin care routine completely. After the first use I had noticeable results. My skin looked radiant, hydrated and felt silky soft. It’s an overnight treatment mask so I do use it alongside my usual night and eye cream. It also smells delicious! Love love looooove it!!!
Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Liquid Lipstick – £8.99
I love MAC and I was gutted when I realised that the nude “Lady Be Good” liquid lipstick was sold out everywhere. So I was on the search to find something similar. This is the perfect alternative! This is the colour cool brown which appears rather dark in the tube however when it’s applied, it’s actually nude. It suits every skin tone, it’s moisturising and dries quickly. It doesn’t smudge, lasts for hours without having to top up and it doesn’t stick to your teeth. It has a matte finish which makes the product last longer on your lips.
Lancome L’Absolu Rouge – £23.50
Another great alternative to MAC’s nude “Lady Be Good” is this lipstick from Lancome. I picked up the colour Ambre Cuir which is a slightly darker nude. However if you like a bold smokey eye, then this is a great shade to ensure that you’re make up isn’t over the top. It has a matte finish so will last longer on the lips. It’s rather creamy which means it keeps your lips hydrated throughout the day. The packaging is very sophisticated and has a magnet to keep the lid tightly closed.
NYX Cosmetics – MakeUp Setting Spray – £7
I’ve heard a lot of good things about NYX Cosmetics however unless you order online, I found it rather difficult to locate on the high street. Previously I featured Urban Decay’s makeup setting spray which is fantastic, however I am always on the look out for alternatives that do the same job, if not better. This one I wouldn’t say is better however it does what it sets out to do and keeps your makeup in place all day. It has a matte finish which means no light reflecting particles. Perfect for a day time office look. It’s a light formula and dries instantly.
Origins – Plantscription Anti-Aging Power Serum – £49
For skin care, you really do pay for quality. This is rather pricey however it is ah-maz-ing!! The Origins Plantscription range contains 20 potent plant extracts including Anogeissus from Ghana, Africa, Bamboo and Pea Extract from Australia, Crithmum from France and Commiphora from India.
This is an anti aging serum which you apply on cleansed skin and before moisturiser. It helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and will help skin to appear and feel firmer and youthful. I’ve been using this for the past couple of weeks and I have definitely noticed a difference in the condition of my skin. My skin looks more radiant, softer and the fine lines that I do have are most definitely minimised.
I hope you enjoyed reading about what products I was loving this month and hopefully you have discovered something new. I would love to hear which products caught your eye this month and any that you would recommend. As you know, I love trialling out new brands and products.
Until next time,
