This month’s Birchbox was full of surprises and once again Birchbox delivered one of their best boxes to date. With a focus on adding an extra sparkle to your everyday routine, this box provided a selection of luxe samples and full size items.
Spectrum Tapered Powder Brush – £7.99
This was definitely my favourite item in the box. The brush itself is gorgeous with the prettiest vibrant colours. It will most certainly be the stand out item in your cosmetic collection! The brush bristles are incredibly soft and tapered. This allows a flawless finish to setting powder, shimmery highlights or your favourite blush or bronzer. I’ve used other brushes within the collection previously and would highly recommend. The extra bonus is that they are affordable in comparison to others which deliver the same results.
The Balm – Frat Boy – £15.50
If you haven’t heard of The Balm cosmetics before, they’re very similar to Benefit although just slightly better. They have super fun packaging and these trial sizes last for months and fit perfectly in your hand bag for on the go touch ups. This is a peachy pink blush which will give you a lovely radiant glow. The colour is buildable and will suit all complexions and skin tones.
Ole Henriksen – Truth Serum Collagen Serum – £47
I’ve recently started getting into this brand having sampled a few products from the range over the Christmas period. This is a miracle worker serum which uses a high powered vitamin C complex to smooth fine lines, plump and protect skin. It absorbs well into the skin and doesn’t leave a greasy residue. Instead it leaves skin glowing and silky smooth. This serum smells like oranges, yum!
LOC – One and Done Shadow Stick – £8
This was another full size item contained in this months box. Subscribers were given the choice between two shades however I opted for the lightest which is a pretty champagne shade. LOC is Birchbox’s own beauty brand which they are currently launching so it was good to trial out their products. This pencil is soft and like a crayon. It easily glides on the skin and is blendable for a shimmery look. It’s also good as a highlighter.
Cochine – Water Hyacinth & Lime Blosson Hand & Body Lotion – £19
Received was a 50ml sample which is perfect for travelling. It is a sweetly scented lotion which absorbs well into the skin leaving skin feeling smooth and deeply hydrated. It dries in seconds so doesn’t leave an oily residue. It contains a whole host of ingredients including aloe vera and shea butter, hints of zesty lime blossom and woodsy water hyacinth. The scent isn’t over powering and leaves skin feeling refreshed.
Toallita Desmaquilladora – Make Up Remover Wipe – £9.50
This is a good make up wipe which eliminates most traces of make up, including waterproof mascara. The wipes are perfect for sensitive souls as they are made from a super soft fabric which cleanses and hydrates skin whilst reducing any irritation.
Did you know that you shouldn’t use make up wipes everyday? I found this out recently as I used to swear by them. Apparently wipes should really only be used in desperate times eg after a night out or when you’re travelling. To fully cleanse the skin a micellar water is far kinder to the skin and removes more make up than a wipe. Fun fact of the day!
If you received this months box, did you receive anything different? Have you tried any of the above products? If so I’d love to hear your views.
Thanks for reading and have a great week!
Until next time…
