This month’s Birchbox arrived rather swiftly in yet another unique box. The theme for March is “Word Up” with a word search designed box which contains a whole host of beauty related words. If you can find them, then you can enter a competition to win a beauty prize of £450. I love word jumble games so it came in handy when I needed to sit back, relax and de-stress.
The contents this month were a mixture of hair and body care with the odd make up item thrown in. The box contains two full sized items.
Arrow – Colour Enhancing Lip Balm £11 (Full Size)
Birchbox has started to launch their own brand of beauty products and this is the second item that their boxes have featured. It is a lip balm which protects your lips and changes colour according to your pH, making this product completely unique for each user. When I applied it, it gave me a nice rosy lip colour. It is very hydrating and smells like sherbet lemon candy. It is paraben free, cruelty free and vegan. The packaging is aesthetically pleasing so a good addition to your make up bag.
Amika – Nourishing Hair Mask – £19.99
I love the colours of the packaging! This is an intensive hair mask which will sort out and seal split ends whilst deeply moisturising and hydrating your locks. It uses sea buckthorn berry and jojoba oil to repair any damage you may have caused through excessive heat styling. The sample was 20ml so I was able to use this twice. My hair did feel very soft and nourished after using this and the smell is quite light. I left it on for 10 minutes to deeply penetrate my hair. Really liked this!
Model Co – More Brows – £13
This is a quick drying tinted eyebrow gel. I received the colour light/medium brown. The brush is similar to a mascara brush so very easy to apply. With this product you can create the illusion of fuller brows and to re-shape your brows to your desired shape. Unfortunately this product isn’t for me as my eyebrows are already rather dark and this made them look very dark in comparison to my blonde hair. Not a good look for me, however I gave it to my friend who has pale eyebrows and blonde hair and she loved it! The colour looked very natural on her.
Lanolips – Triple Buttermilk Body Balm – £13.99 (Full Size)
This is a deeply hydrating body moisturiser ideal for very dry skin. It leaves a rich nourishing finish with a silky feel. It contains a triple concentration of pure grade lanolin, milk extracts and vitamin E. It sinks into the skin very easily and doesn’t leave a greasy film. I wasn’t overly convinced by the fragrance as it oddly reminded me of fresh paint?! However it did leave my skin feeling very smooth and after the fragrance was more zesty and like lemons.
This Works – Pillow Spray £16
The secret to a good night’s sleep is of course lavender. I have tried this product before and I love it! You basically spritz this on your pillow before you go to sleep, or you could spritz it on your hair which I tried (: It includes essential oils such as lavender and vetivert. It calms the mind and helps you to relax so that you can easily drift off and stay asleep. Perfect after a very stressful day!
N4 – Styling Cream (no price)
Judging by my card, I wasn’t supposed to receive this item and instead was supposed to receive an anti aging serum… epic fail Birchbox! To be honest I didn’t try this out as it’s not really my cup of tea. It’s a styling cream which is said to leave hair flexible, weightless and provides sublime texture. It’s rather gloopy and has a light scent. I think this would be good for those with short hair, or perhaps one of your male friends. This one went straight in the bin, oops!
Let me know if you received anything different in your box this month and of course your views on these items. I love reading your comments and finding out what you all got!
Have a great week!
