May 2016 Favourites

Hi Guys,

Hope you’re all having a great start to the week! Sadly I’m not and am literally dying with a very bad chest infection. It’s just me and my duvet! ):

On another note, can you believe that June has arrived?! Time sure is flying by which is now rather daunting.  However on the plus side, I’m one month closer to my Summer vacation, yippee!

May was a great month for new product launches and limited editions, particularly in the makeup space.  Was it just me who was drooling over the Urban Decay “Alice Through The Looking Glass” palette? It certainly is the most gorgeous selection of highly pigmented colours I’ve came across for a long time! I haven’t caved to my temptation just yet however here are some of the items that I was obsessing over during the month of May:

MAC Vibe Tribe Bronzer & Bronzing Brush – £24 // £30

Can we all just stop for a second to admire how gorgeous the packaging on the MAC Vibe Tribe range is!? When I spotted this in the duty free I just had to have it.  Inspired by Cochella and the Nevada desert, the tribal packing on these items is vibrant and will spruce up any makeup collection.  I picked up the bronzer in the shade Golden Rinse which is a light golden bronzer with a slight shimmer.  It is easy to build up and is suitable for paler skin tones.  The brush is the 127 split fibre face brush which is ideal for applying the bronzer. The bristles are soft  and feature a 50/50 split of natural and synthetic fibres.

Origins Zero Oil Moisturiser – £24

This is a zero oil light weight lotion which contains saw palmetto which clears the skin, salicylic acid to reduce shine and oil, and mint to refresh the skin.  I’m not a fan of mint (Seriously I have a weird phobia) so was slightly put off however thankfully this does not smell of it.  The lotion creates a smooth matte finish on the skin and with continued use, you will start to see a large reduction in the excess oil that your skin produces.  I find this to be particularly useful now that Summer is fast approaching and the temperature in the tube is unbearable.  This helps my foundation stay in place all day without sliding off my face.  I would recommend this product if you have oily or combination skin, and it works wonders for acne and oil control.

Origins Night-A-Mins Moisturiser – £35

First of all, how cool is the name of this moisturiser?!  This is a mineral enriched renewal cream moisturiser that contains 72 vitamins, minerals and active ingredients!  This is a deeply penetrating cream that works wonders. Skin looks more awake, radiant and refreshed.  It has a relaxing aroma that will send you off to sleep whilst the ingredients will banish dry skin.  I find the cream to be quite rich however as soon as you apply it to your face you can feel the luxurious benefits going to work.  Definitely the best night cream that I’ve came across so far.

MAC Prep & Prime Fix +  – £10

Did you know that you can purchase mini versions of MAC’s most popular items? They’re located at the checkout and all cost £10.  You can pick up things like eye makeup remover or mascara.  Very handy for travelling or if you don’t want to splurge before trialling out the products.  I’ve had my eye on this for a while however I have been using up my L’Oreal Infallible Fixing Spray which is brilliant!  This product is a lightweight water mist that gently soothes and refreshes skin which setting your makeup in place.  It is fragrance free and packed with vitamins and minerals.  It’s enfused with green tea, chamomile and cucumber to gently sooth and refresh the skin.  It also gives an instant boost of hydration, perfect for whilst on the go.

Charlotte Tilbury Magic Eye Rescue – £40

This is slightly on the pricey side however I think that with CT products, you pay for the packaging.  The rose gold packaging is simply gorgeous which makes this to be a must have item.  This is a revitalising and reinvigorating, anti-aging rescue remedy that over continued use will help to reduce the appearance of fine lines, eye bags, dark circles and the first signs of aging.  The formula feels rich as it contains coconut oil, shea butter and vitamins A, C and E.  Once applied leaves skin feeling silky smooth and deeply hydrated.

Skin-saviour Saccharide Isomerate is like an isotonic energy drink for your skin! It has water-retaining properties, which after continued use will assist in a smoother, firmer complexion.

I hope you enjoyed reading this post.  If you have tried out any of these items, I would love to know your thoughts.  Similarly if you have tried and loved any items from these brands and what products that you were loving during May I would love to hear all about them.  Please leave your comments in the box below… I love hearing about new products and your recommendations.

Until next time…

Love Hayley xx

  1. I’ m such a sucker for nice packaging, I could buy the MAC bronzer and CT cream just for that! But the bronzer itself also looks lovely and I think I ll give the Mac primer a try once my Laura Mercier finishes. Great post ☺️x
