Hope you all had a fabulous July! I sure did as not only was it my birthday, I also went on vacation for a much needed week to chill out and get some essential vitamin D (: July is my second favourite month of the year, after December of course. There always seems to be new product releases, everyone is in a good mood and there’s always something going on. This month my favourites are a mixture of both beauty, lifestyle and fashion. So let’s get started.
First of all, I have been loving Origins Gin Zing products. This month Origins released the GinZing Peel Off Mask – £24. It is an energising peel off mask that will brighten skin whilst tightening pores, and lifting away stubborn dead skin cells, dirt and debris to smooth and refine. When applied, the product is… wait for it… rose gold!! It’s shimmery like you have dipped your face in liquid gold, it’s so cool! I would recommend only applying to the areas that are problematic, for example T zone, and not all over your face. It is VERY strong once it dries and can be slightly tricky to peel off. I prefer a mask like this as I feel like it will thoroughly remove any dirt which has built up on my skin. For the parts I couldn’t peel off, I just used luke warm water to wash off.
Origins also released this month the GinZing Energy Boosting Treatment Lotion Mist – £18. This product is ah-maz-ing!! It smells like satsumas and is incredibly refreshing on the skin. It hydrates and energizes tired, dull skin. It’s the perfect pick me up in the morning. It is packed with energizing coffee beans, panax ginseng and pomegranate. It’s oil free and can be used on all skin types. I keep mine in the fridge for an extra oomph on application.
I also became obsessed with the Origins VitaZing Energy Boosting Moisturiser with Mangosteen – £29. This is the perfect make up base as it adds a healthy hint of radiance that mimics the glow you get from a week’s vacation in the sun. It sinks in nicely to the skin and gives you a flawless complexion. In addition to this, I was also loving the Origins GinZing Refreshing Eye Cream – £20. This product provides and immediate appearance of vibrancy, radiance and eveness with a blend of optic brighteners to diffuse darkness and illuminate under eye skin. It combats dark circles by strengthening capillaries and providing both anti inflammatory and anti oxidant benefits. I never thought a product could work wonders until I discovered this. It really does work! When I went on vacation, I had to be up at 3am for my 6am flight. With having only had 4 hours sleep, I applied this and I looked wide awake! I can’t emphasise enough how amazing this product is.
Another new release came from Bare Minerals. They released the Invisible Light Translucent Powder Duo – £28. The matte powder absorbs oil and is the perfect setting powder whilst the glow powder will add sheer luminosity for highlighting and strobing. The matte powder is similar to the MAC Prep and Prime translucent powder. It can be used on all skin tones and is not visible once applied to the skin, so don’t worry that the colour is white.
My holiday read this year was The Girl On The Train by Paula Hawkins – £7.99. If you liked Gone Girl, then you will love this! It’s a thriller set in London, and as soon as you start reading I guarantee that you will be hooked! It’s about a girl called Rachel who catches the same commuter train each morning. The train stops at the same signal each day which overlooks a row of back gardens. Rachel daydreams about how perfect their lifestyles are and feels like she knows the strangers that she watches daily. That is until one day she witnesses something shocking and in that moment everything changes. She then has a chance to become part of their lives and to solve the mystery so that they’ll see she’s not just the girl on the train. Sounds exciting right?! It really is!!
To continue with my quest to improve my overall health, I purchased the Leon Happy Salads book – £15. First of all how cute is the cover?? It is the perfect way to inspire your diet and give you fresh ideas on what to add to your salads. For example fregola and chorizo to spinach, chickpea and almond. When we think of salad, we usually assume that there will be some sort of lettuce or leaves included however that’s not always the case as this can be replaced with cous cous or other grains. That’s why this book is brilliant and gives you plenty of ideas. It also shows you how to make your own dressings so that no nasty additives are being added. My personal favourite is the strawberry, melon and chicken salad with an elderflower dressing.
Finally, I am loving my new Nike Running Trainers. I love training shoes that have a pop of colour and when they have a bright sole like these, I’m sold and I need to have them! I’m not sure of what the exact style name is, sorry! As they’re running shoes, they are incredibly light weight and super comfortable. When you have new gym clothes, it’s amazing how much your motivation increases!
I hope you enjoyed reading about what I was loving during July. I would love to hear what your monthly favourites were and your thoughts on my favourites if you too have tired them out.
Happy August when it arrives!
Love Hayley xx
