New Bag Alert… Introducing the Mulberry Alexa Soft Grain with Rivets

Hi Lovelies,

A couple of weeks ago I was fortunate enough to visit the Mulberry sample sale here in London.  If you aren’t familiar with a sample sale, it’s basically an opportunity for brands to launch a limited number of new products at a reduced price to gage interest from the public as to whether they like the items, colours etc.  And, it is also a way of selling current and previous excess stock at a reduced price.  Some items you may find have huge discounts up to 70% and others may only have 30-40% off.

Mulberry is one of my go to brands, particularly for handbags and accessories.  So when I heard about this sample sale I of course jumped at signing up for it.  The sample sale was set in a gallery space and when you walked in, you seriously didn’t know which direction to look! There were shelves everywhere containing possibly every bag you could dream of! There was so much colour, and the colour co-ordination which was pretty cool, that it was like walking into a candy store.  I made a few purchases as I managed to save quite a bit on the items I bought.  On average I would say the reductions were around 40-60%.

I have had my eye on a new Alexa for so long, as I recently sold my oversized one. The Alexa, named after Alexa Chung, is effortlessly chic combining elements from two iconic Mulberry styles: the Bayswater bag and the Elkington briefcase.  The result is an understatedly cool satchel complete with signature postman’s lock, buckle strap, internal Mulberry fob and silver hardware.  The rivet detailing on this bag makes it stand out from the rest and there is nothing quite like it.

So without further ado, introducing my gorgeous new Alexa

Here are some photos of inside the sample sale:

Have any of you guys been to a sample sale? I would love to hear your experiences and whether you splurged or window shopped. I’ve been to a few clothing ones where the clothes are basically returns from previous seasons and are covered in make up, yuck!! The Mulberry one was far from that… everything was in pristine condition and came with their original dust bags (:

Hope you all enjoyed reading this post.

Until Next Time….

  1. I would love to go to a sample sale! I wish they had them here ! It must be awesome to score deals on the real merchandise as opposed to lower priced outlet versions 😍

    1. It’s great when you find a bargain however with clothing ones it’s hit or miss. Sometimes the prices are just sale price and excess of the horrid styles that they couldn’t shift. Designer and handbags seems to be completely different, phew! Xx

  2. I’ve only shopped online sample sales – I love them because you can sometimes get stuff that never really made it into production, so it’s quite unique!

Your new Alexa is lovely! I love studs on bags, always 😀

  3. Great choice Hayley! I adore this Alexa with rivets, it’s so rock ‘n’ roll and chic!! I have been to a ‘family sale’ by Escada a few years ago, which only opens for its staff and staff’s family and/or close friends and I did get two skirts which I still keep and love one of them! I’d like to see you do a photo shoot with your new Alexa! Enjoy using it!

    1. I’ve heard of family sales in the US, they’re pretty good! I remember getting a fab Marc Jacobs jacket from Bloomingdales with 30% off.
Ah thanks. Loving the bag! So different to anything out there at the moment.
      Have a fab weekend xx
