November 2016 Favourites

Hi Lovelies,

We’ve finally reached December, the best month of the year!! Not only do we have snow on our blogs, there’s twinkly lights and sparkle everywhere you look. I love it! October/November is when we start seeing all the limited edition Christmas beauty gifts being released which means my wish list continues to grow at a rapid rate.  November was definitely my splurge month where I managed to purchase some items that I had been lusting after for a while and others were new discoveries.

Diptyque Violette Candle – £42

I think I mentioned in one of my previous blogs that I recently moved apartment so I’m still busy adding little bits and bobs to make it homely.  This candle is by far my favourite item of November, although I would go as far as saying it’s the best homely item of the year! Diptyque is a French brand specialising in candles, home fragrance, skin and body care, and fragrance.  This candle smells exactly like the retro candy Parma Violets.  It’s quite sweet however at the same time warm and welcoming.  You don’t need to constantly burn it to smell it.  If I burn it, a week later I can still smell it when I walk into the apartment.  Love love love!! It’s perhaps slightly more on the pricier side however it burns for 60+ hours.

Emma Hardie – Moringa Cleansing Balm and Cleansing Cloth – £38

This is a luxurious botanical cleansing balm that removes all traces of make up, including waterproof mascara.  It’s silky, hydrating and doubles up as a soothing and softening mask.  It contains mooring seeds, wild sea fennel and vitamin E to help balance, purify and minimise the appearance of open pores, whilst a blend of orange, neroli and mandarin extracts give an uplifting scent.  It also contains jasmine and rose help to revitalise dull, dry skin.  It’s absolutely amazing! If you are thinking of purchasing this item it’s important to also buy the cloth, although usually you get this free. You soak the cloth in warm water, place over your face for a few seconds then sweep down on the face and your face is fully cleansed. This is the best cleansing product I’ve came across.

Urban Decay All Nighter Foundation – £27

I purchased the lightest shade, 0.5, and found that this foundation blends seamlessly onto the skin.  It definitely stays put all day without having to touch up.  It’s a full coverage which can feel quite heavy on the skin however if I need less coverage I’ll mix this in with a lighter textured foundation or add a drop of my moisturiser to it.  If you have any break outs this is perfect as it covers any imperfections in one swipe, which will prevent any “cakey face” situations.

Elizabeth Arden City Smart – £49.50

For everyone who lives in a city, do you ever find that when you remove your makeup your skin still feels rather grimy and your pores are clogged? Chances are it’s because your skin has been breathing in pollution from smog, exhaust fumes, air con in an office environment or travelling on the underground.  Since moving to London I’ve noticed that my skin can feel clogged, looks dull and dehydrated.  This product is a game changer.  It’s the only product on the market that acts as a barrier from pollution, the sun and against visible ageing.  I’ve started using this daily after moisturiser but before applying make up and I’ve started to notice a difference.  My pores are less visible, my skin feels less agitated and the brightness is back in my skin.  I would recommend stopping by any department store and asking for a sample before you buy.  I’m sure you won’t be disappointed.

Kat Von D Lock It Creme Concealer – £20

I’d heard a lot of great reviews about Kat Von D products and here in the UK the brand is now available to purchase in Debenhams.  On occasion, when my skin is playing up, my make up can slip which is so frustrating so I was on the look out for something with good staying power.  This is a creamy concealer which is bendable, gives full coverage and lasts all day without having to touch up.  It easily brightens the under eye, reduces redness, covers blemishes without a cake appearance and also acts as a great highlighter.  I don’t wear this with a foundation from the range as I feel as though they are too heavy for my skin.  I mix this concealer with a L’Oreal foundation which works well together.

Kat Von D Lock it Edge Foundation Brush – £26

This foundation brush caught my eye with its sleek design.  It features a sculpted shape that conforms to the curves and contours of your face.  The bristles are synthetic and can reach every angle of your face.  It makes blending super easy especially at the side of your nose or under eye.  This brush helps you to achieve the best coverage, wear and finish from your foundation.  It’s also easy to wash and dries keeping its shape with no moulting.

Snowflake Brooch – £7

It’s coming up to Christmas and when I saw this cute sparkly number I knew I just had to have this gorgeous snowflake brooch. I picked it up in Marks and Spencers, and it adds that little extra something to a black sleek coat.

Let me know what items you were loving during November in the comments below.  If you have tried any of the above items I would love to hear your thoughts.  I hope you enjoyed reading this post and had a great weekend.

Love Hayley xx

    1. I was the same then I got one of the mini sizes in a beauty box and opted to splurge on a large one. The violet one is insane!! Such a lovely scent, and you constantly smell it. Defo worth the money.
      Thanks for stopping by ☺️💕xx

  1. Love the twinkly lights and snow effect you’ve added to your blog. I followed your November splurge and I splurged in November as well. 🙂 It’s hard to believe that in 20 days it will be Christmas Day. Guess we both should stay away from being naughty and remain nice so Santa doesn’t pass us by.
