This month’s My Little Box arrived fashionably late and accordingly the theme was based around Friday Night, letting loose and partying with your girlfriends. The box design was again its infamous hand illustration with a touch of gold. As you open the box you’re greeted with an illustrated postcard detailing out the four types of party personalities you’ll find on a night out. This was then accompanied with an envelope containing recipes for cocktails and a list of trendy bars worldwide.
There were a few lifestyle items this month which I found ranged from being useful to slightly bizarre. Keeping up with the cocktail theme, there were four cork coasters nicely designed in pastel colours.
Secondly, included in the box was a geometric gold triangle hairpin. Although I wouldn’t necessarily use this, I’m sure many subscribers would adding a touch of glam to their tresses, casually moving from a day to evening look.
Thirdly, and the item I found rather bizarre and would hands down never use (is it just me?!) was bow tie for your bra. The idea is quirky – if you have a backless dress for example, you would slide this embellishment onto the clasp of your bra. However, if you were wearing something so plunging, why would you want to draw attention to your bra in the first place? I know that I definitely would not and would probably reach for the sticky cups leaving my back completely bare.
I really liked the beauty items this month. The first item was a travel sized edition of the Bumble and Bumble Surf Infusion oil and sea salt spray. Bizarrely I was actually looking at this item in Boots the day prior and almost purchased it so was very happy to find it in the box. These mini’s retail at £10 for 45ml. Pricey but they do last and is a good way to trial the product before splurging £22 on the full sized version. I have rather fine hair and found this to add enough volume. The oil prevents that sticky over processed feeling. Just remember to shake the contents before applying.
The second item was a summer appropriate nail polish in a post box red colour. This you can’t go wrong with especially on a night out.
The third item which was from the My Little Beauty collection, was a double ended black eye crayon. Crayons are soft to apply, are easy to smudge and are long lasting. I prefer to use this on my upper lash line. The smudger is perfect for creating the ultimate smokey eye.
